BiH Color Festival Hosting First ROUTE WB6 Volunteers

ColorBiH2

On August 12, International Youth Day, the Institute for Youth Development KULT signed a cooperation agreement with the BiH Color Festival making them the first festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina to host volunteers through the ROUTE WB6 volunteer exchange program.

According to the organizers, the BiH Color Festival is young artists’ response to the humdrum reality of everyday life. Young people organized the festival to offer additional content to their community, and fight prejudice against electronic music, showing that music and art can be used as tools that connect people.

The festival quickly became popular in BiH and the region, both because of the quality and the colorful powder thrown on the hour. In four years, the festival has had more than 20,000 visitors, and features over 80 DJs on two festival stages.

15 young, motivated ROUTE WB6 volunteers from Western Balkan countries will spend seven days in the Brčko District of BiH, helping prepare and run this year’s BiH Color Festival. During their time volunteering at the Festival, they will improve their skills, learn new things and attend intercultural activities organized by the Festival, which will give them an opportunity to learn more about the culture and tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The ROUTE WB6 volunteering program will use cross-border volunteering as a mechanism for overcoming social and ethnic barriers among young people in the region, and strengthening European social values that foster reconciliation, stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans.

The Institute for Youth Development KULT is part of a consortium led by the RYCO Regional Youth Cooperation Office in cooperation with organizations from the Western Balkans. The project is implemented with the support of Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
