Various activities - both educational and entertaining - were organised at the Educational-Leisure Centre for Youth Spajalica in May. For course attendees in Spajalica, the previous month signified a successful closure and certificates they were proud to receive. Guests of Spajalica enjoyed a discussion with BH actress and columnist Vedrana Seksan who talked about her successes, but also her failures. She spoke directly about her long path from receiving a diploma to playing a major part.

"When I graduated, I couldn't find a job for a very long time. That didn't discourage me. I didn't wait for job vacancies, I knocked on all doors. Until, finally, one opened."

Wife and mother Vedrana Seksan also talked about balancing between her work and family. She said that if one wants something strongly enough, all can be coordinated and managed. A relaxed but also educational conversation lasted for two hours. The guests of SPAJALICA were interested in Vedrana's favorite roles, how important did she find her first major part? How does she organise her time to balance her family life, being a mother, acting, writing and volunteering?

"I love my family – my husband and children. I really love my job as well. All can be managed and you can excell at everything" – emphasized Vedrana Seksan.

The youngest attendees of the School of Friendship are also slowly learning that all can be balanced. They marked a sunny May by visiting the Youth Theatre. They enjoyed watching the pirate play Captain John Peoplefolks. It is a play about retired pirates who face two challenges: defeating a sea monster the Sevenheaded Dragon and understanding true values in life. The play emphasized to the attendees that true life values are in fact socialising, friendships, sacrifising for others and courage.

In May, representatives of the Institute for Youth Development KULT participated in at the 6th European Platform for Youth Centres, where activities and achievements of centres were presented. "Quality Label" certificate was awarded to the Eco-Centre "Radulova?ki" from Sremski Karlovac with whom representatives of the Institute for Youth Development KULT and the Institute's Youth Centre Spajalica are planning to establish cooperation in the following period.

A lecture entitled What are the preventive methods that a school, a parent and an individual in general can take to prevent deliquent behavior? was held at the Educational-Leisure Centre for Youth SPAJALICA. The lecture was held in collaboration with the Discipline Centre for Underage Youth and the students of Fourth Gymnasium and Graphic Design Technical High School.

The students were introduced with the notion of deliquent behavior, risk factors and protection factors of exposing socially unacceptable behavior forms. They were introduced with the role of familiy in the process of socialisation with the emphasis that the family may also be a risk factor (if it is disfunctional) , but also a protection factor (if functional). School also has a significant role in the socialisation process. Considering the crucial role of family and school in the socialisation process, it is a necessary step to work preventively in cooperation of the two subjects, as Samira Bogu?anin, an expert associate/pedagogist, emphasized. The students actively participated in the stated lecture.

This leads to the conclusion that, as long as we fight deliquency, and not its causes, we are extinguishing the flames, but not preventing the fire.

As a part of the JUPPO Project - Expert Training and Structural Networking as Key Actors of Preventing Addiction in BiH, at Maršal Hotel in Bjelašnica the second module entitled Pedagogy of Experience and Environment I was held from 19 to 22 May 2015.  The trainers of the module were Beate Einetter from Klagenfurt and Ewald SpieĂźmayr-Bernardino from Ansfelden in Austria.

Pedagogy of experience is based on the assumption that situations rich in content through which the individual or a group have to prove themselves, lead to changes in thinking, acting or feelings of people involved. These changes such as the readiness to take responsibility, increased self-respect due to a successfully mastered group task or an increased readiness to make a decision or act are not only desirable during the activity of pedagogy of experience, but aim to exist beyond it as well. In order for participants to integrate these changes into their daily lives, after each exercise, the experienced process is reflected in form of a transfer. Through Pedagogy of Experience basic skills are improved that are necessary for a person to live a healthy lifestyle and to resist the temptation of abusing psychoactive substances and tackling problematic behavior, such as taking over tasks that are challenging, resisting the group and the pressure of those who are stronger, getting to know oneself, one's strengths and weaknesses, providing support and cooperating with other members of the group, seeking and accepting help from others if one's own abilities are insufficient, making good decisions on one's own or as a part of a group.

The Bear and the Penguin, Zap-Zap, Enter the Doorstep, Grab the Finger, Tower of Strength, Tricky Triangle, Twist the Bottle, Spider's Web and various other activities filled the programme of the second module. The theory was presented through the content: gender questionnaire, ethnocentricity, cultural relativism, four levels of diversity, experimental learning, reflection and transfer in working with youth.

The project is being realised by the Association for Preventing Addiction NARKO-NO from Sarajevo.
