Two "Let's Sail Together" workshops were held today at the Educational-Leisure Center for Youth SPAJALICA in IlidĹľa.
Around 60 students of High School of Graphic Technology, Design and Multimedia and the Fourth Gymnasium participated in workshops relating to the following topics: Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Risky Behavior and Contraception, Love, Emotions and Gender Roles.
The interactive method entitled "Let's Sail Together" is a method in which the participants tour around the displayed tables, i.e. stations with texts and illustrations that refer to different topics. The participants may also ask any additional questions to peer educators.
Based on the questions asked, the educators can define the information that youth might lack, and the possible gaps in their awareness and basic knowledge.
The first in a series of lectures of the Disciplinary Center on topic "What Is Peer Violence?" was held today at the Educational-Leisure Center for Youth SPAJALICA. The lecture was held in cooperation with the Disciplinary Center for Juveniles and it was intended for high school students from the area of IlidĹľa.
Peer violence is every conscious or deliberately violent or unjustified behavior of a child or a group of children directed towards another child, with the aim of harming him/her physically or mentally, in which the violent behavior is characterized by repetition, imbalance of power, an evident sense of satisfaction for the perpetrator, and a sense of oppression for the victim.
“In order to characterize violent behavior as abuse, the behavior has to have additional characteristics, primarily repetition and focus on the same individual” – stated Elmedin Zuko, a social worker from the Disciplinary Center.
Since this is a very important topic to be discussed with youth on a regular basis and constantly work on fighting violence, the Institute for Youth Development KULT have announced another lecture of the Disciplinary Center at SPAJALICA on 11 March.
“The 3-lecture cycle that will be held once a month at SPAJALICA is just one small step in fighting and preventing youth violence. The following lecture will focus on topic “Who Is Responsible for Violence in the Society?” – concluded Vesna Filipovi?, the Manager of the Educational-Leisure Center for Youth SPAJALICA.
The second in a series of lectures of the Disciplinary Center was held at the Educational-Leisure Center for Youth SPAJALICA.
The lecture on topic "Who is responsible for violence in the society?" was organized for the students of High School of Graphic Technology, Design and Multimedia and the Fourth Gymnasium.
Youth discussed the role of police, the media, parents and schools in preventing violence with the representatives of the Center and on their roles in the whole process.
The Disciplinary Center is organizing lectures for the purpose of preventing peer and every other form of violence.
